Over Heating?

Now What …First, shift into neutral, then reverse and back up for 10 seconds. You are looking to see if you caught “anything” on your propeller (kelp, plastic bag, fishing line etc…) Next look for obvious leaks. If you are fresh water cooled be sure to check the coolant level in your expansion bottles.

DO NOT remove expansion tank cap until it is completely cooled, then using extreme caution, remove it slowly, and look to see that it is properly seated. If it is, and you notice leakage at the end of the rubber overflow hose, you may need only replace the cap and top off the coolant. If everything there checks out – move on to the raw – water system. Begin with the sea strainer, if it is filled with water, check the flow of water out of the exhaust. Make note if the water is weak or non-existent. This could indicate a bad impeller. To change the impeller can be tricky so be sure to be familiar with changing it “before” you hit the high seas.
