Cooling System -The cooling system is an extremely important part of the engine assembly. A correct working temperature contributes to a longer operational lifespan of the engine and improved fuel economy. It is also important from a safety aspect. With a correctly dimensioned and correctly installed cooling system, overheating of the engine, unnecessary stoppages and expensive repairs due to engine failure, can be avoided.

Electrical System - A correctly dimensioned electrical system contributes to comfortable and problem free boat ownership. Batteries must be charged to the correct capacity, i.e., to supply the correct number of amp hours (Ah). In turn, this requires an alternator that supplies a sufficient charge to the batteries. Insufficiently dimensioned, oxidized or badly connected cables, incorrect main switch, etc., lead to current leakage and insufficient charging. In other words, there is every reason to examine the electrical systems and if necessary, improve it to attain the benefits of maximum battery capacity. Engine & Fuel System Parts -The supply of clean fuel to the engine is essential to marine safety and to avoid mechanical breakdowns. Even fresh fuel can be sufficiently contaminated by water or other impurities so as to cause engine failure. Rust in the fuel tanks or fuel lines can be another cause of such breakdowns. A fuel system with stainless steel tank, copper fuel pipes or rubber fuel hoses and water separating filters averts the problem.
Regularly check the filter in the same way as other check points on the engine. Store the spare filter on board and replace regularly in conjunction with maintenance service.

Dennis, You may recall back in June you worked on my steering ram (23′ Sportcraft at Campland). It had been buggered up by a wrench grip and the new seal was being cut and was leaking like a stuck tuna. A replacement ram was not available yet you got me by for the summer.
